The Northeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association (NELMA*) is sponsoring a design contest for students currently enrolled in an accredited architecture program to design a modern sustainable structure featuring Eastern White Pine.
Feature the use of Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus) as part of a sustainable modern structure. We’re looking for dialogue inspiring, future-predicting, forward-thinking designs. Well managed forests provide a supply of beautiful, strong and infinitely renewable building materials. Help us imagine a more sustainable future while featuring Eastern White Pine.
This design competition is open to architecture, engineering and design students currently enrolled in an accredited program in North America. There is no fee for this competition. Entrants may submit as an individual or a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Team submissions must designate a primary contact person for communication purposes only.
*Since 1933, NELMA has been the steward of the lumber industry in the Northeast. NELMA is the not-for-profit rules writing agency for Eastern White Pine lumber and is the publisher of the White Pine Monograph. NELMA is dedicated to sharing knowledge about this historic species.
